Education Żabka Polska is a socially responsible company. Education is a priority in our CSR strategy and we support Poznań University of Economics as a member of the Partner Club. 2009 has been a groundbreaking year in our co-operation in many aspects. Our company has decided to sponsor MA scholarships for outstanding students. Together with Penta Investments, our shareholder, we also agreed to sponsor the renovation of one of the main lecture halls at Poznań University of Economics. Żabka Polska S.A. is also committed to meeting the education needs of children as the sponsor of competitions Złota Żaba (the Golden Frog) and Złota Żabka (the Little Golden Frog) organised by EKOS, Social Education Foundation. Competitions are addressed at primary school children and at junior high school (gymnasium) students. Their main subject areas are resolving maths problems or assignments in the Polish language. The company also sponsors the purchase of teaching aids for kindergartens. Charity Although education is our priority, Żabka also believes in creating a positive impact by supporting social initiatives. In 2009 we have taken part for the seventh time in the annual action Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy (the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity) by collecting over PLN 305 thousand, which exceeded our last year’s collection by PLN 70 thousand. Żabka has supported Wrocław division of Towarzystwo Opieki nad Zwierzętami (Society for the Protection of Animals). We contributed to the welfare of homeless animals by organising a collection of money in our stores for maintenance of animals under the care of the Society. In 2008 we co-operated with Wielkopolska Provincial Coordination Centre within the programme of cervical cancer prevention in a campaign headed “Choose Life”. Żabka initiated free preventive testing for all women aged 25 to 59 working for the company. Environment Environmental protection is an essential aspect of conducting our everyday business. Żabka Polska S.A. is constantly seeking and implementing environmentally-friendly solutions. Recently we enabled the introduction of plastic biodegradable bags into our shops; our customers may also purchase durable polypropylene shopping bags with the company logo. Żabka is also using and IT system based on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server by Novell on an environmentally-friendly platform enabling virtualisation of servers to limit the supply of electricity to IT appliances.
